Josiah Akehurst

Contract & IT Administrator 

Josiah Akehurst is the Contract & IT Administrator at Akehurst Landscape Service, where he blends a deep family legacy with a sharp, problem solving mindset. As the sixth generation of his family to work in the business, Josiah brings a lifetime of connection to the company. If his children follow in his footsteps, they’ll represent the seventh.

Over the years, Josiah has worked nearly every role at Akehurst, from receptionist and crew member to team leader, supervisor, mechanic assistant, and yard laborer. Today, he thrives in his current position, where he’s able to apply strategic thinking and technology to support the company’s operations. He enjoys the shift from physical labor to mental problem-solving, saying it’s a different kind of challenge, one that requires focus, curiosity, and adaptability.

Before joining Akehurst full-time, Josiah worked in a maintenance role at Beachmont Christian Camp, gaining hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and masonry. This experience solidified his belief that the most valuable education often comes not from textbooks, but from the lessons learned through mistakes in the field. Lessons that leave a lasting impression and shape true growth.



A proud Harford Community College alumnus and Dean’s List student, Josiah is passionate about learning, technology, and creating efficient systems that help the company evolve. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, and never misses a chance to take the mic for a round of karaoke, his favorite hobby.
