Gary Woods
Field Supervisor
Gary Woods is a dedicated Field Supervisor at Akehurst Landscape Service, where he brings a strong work ethic, a desire to grow, and a passion for the outdoors to every project. Since starting as a foreman, Gary has steadily progressed within the company, earning recognition for his leadership and performance. His long-term goal is to become an Account Manager, and he’s actively building the skills needed to get there, especially in communication, people management, and industry knowledge.
Before joining Akehurst, Gary developed a versatile background through roles in grounds maintenance at St. Joan of Arc Church, tow truck driving for Bel Air Auto Auction, and working at Broom’s Bloom Dairy Farm. These experiences helped shape his hands-on, solution-driven approach to work. Once in the landscape industry, Gary quickly realized how much depth and opportunity it holds, far beyond mowing lawns, and he’s made it a point to absorb as much as he can.
At Akehurst, Gary has earned awards for both spring and winter performance, a testament to his consistency and dedication across all seasons. He values that the company gives him the chance to not only grow himself, but also share knowledge and guide others. He sees every day as a chance to move forward, improve, and make a meaningful impact.
Outside of work, Gary is a talented musician who enjoys playing drums, guitar, and piano. He also loves hiking, camping, and spending quality time with his wife and three children. A lifelong Marylander, he proudly supports the Orioles and Ravens. Gary is an Eagle Scout, a former first chair All-State trombone player, and attended Harford Community College. As a kid, he dreamed of designing and testing roller coasters, an early glimpse into the creativity and curiosity that still drive him today.
Gary’s commitment to learning, leadership, and hard work make him a valued member of the Akehurst team and a rising professional in the landscape industry.
