Remembering Charlie

Charlie's love for the outdoors and nature will always be remembered. In downtown Baltimore, Charlie's final work with the revitalization of Latrobe Park was to obtain grant monies and install plants to raise the beauty of the park. Some 10,000 bulbs, shrubs and flowering tress will provide life, color, and enjoyment of their beautyfor years to come.

Charlie was quoted as saying during a winter drive through a local park..."I love trees in the winter, it is then that you see their true character"

Charlie had the knack of looking beyond what was visible and seeing what others struggled to see. This provided him with vision to see things for what they were, and what they could be. His work was to enthusiastically share his vision and gather those around him to bring it to fruition. His neighborhood park honored Charlie with a meditation rose garden and plaque for his amazing efforts.

We will always remember you Charlie...

For those of you who were there to celebrate on 6/28/09. Charlie's faith as expressed in his final years is now realized with the true understanding of what Psalm 23:6 promises to those who make the LORD their Shepherd..

Farewell to a Friend and Colleague

We are saddened by the news recently of the passing of Charles Newcomb.  Charlie was a friend, a designer/sales consultant here at Akehurst.  Some of you reading this may be enjoying the landscape around your home that he worked with you to create.

Charlie had the abilities to design landscapes that were functional and pleasing to many of our customers.  He had a strong work ethic to get the job done, and on budget.  Not only did Charlie design exterior landscapes, but he also had the abilities to design interior landscapes and holiday scenes for Akehurst.

Charlie will always be remembered.  His legacy will live on with his family and loved ones.  His fingerprints have been left on many of the landscape projects that he designed across the metropolitan Baltimore area.  In fact, out of love for his neighborhood, Charlie recently donated his remaining time and energy to give Latrobe Park in Baltimore, a face lift, that will continue to grow and bloom, showing off his love for horticulture and leaving his fingerprints and this special legacy for all to see.

Farewell Charlie, and thank you...
